A new study has found the wait-list for licensed childcare in P-E-I almost tripled between 2021 and 2023.
The report from Ontario-based Christian think-tank Cardus says there were an estimated two-thousand children on the wait-list in P-E-I in 2023.
It says the province created just 459 new licensed childcare spaces in fiscal years beginning in April 2021 and ending in March 2023.
Cardus says P-E-I did not meet its goal of offering childcare for an average price of 15-dollars a day by the end of 2022.
