The provincial government has announced 2.7-million dollars to
increase social program rates in the province.
Social Development and Seniors Minister Barb Ramsay says residents getting Social Assistance or Assured Income benefits will
see a five per cent increase to their basic unit rate.
That’s the monthly allowance to meet the individual’s basic needs including food, clothing, and household supplies.
The increases to social program rates will come into effect on March 1st.
