The Black Cultural Society of PEI is hosting a sold-out Black History Month Opening Gala Saturday night in Charlottetown. Black History Month, observed every February, is a celebration of the cultures that form the Island’s Black community. This year’s theme is “Community as the Way Forward.” In early February, flag raising ceremonies will take place in a number of communities, including Cornwall, Borden-Carleton, Charlottetown and UPEI.
