Summerside Mayor and Council officially request action on ICU services suspension at PCH

Summerside Mayor Dan Kutcher and Summerside Council have sent letters to Health Minister Mark McLane and Interim Health PEI CEO Corinne Rowswell officially asking that action be taken on the suspension of ICU services at the Prince County Hospital.  The letters say the recent decision to suspend all ICU services at the PCH will jeopardize the health and outcomes of the citizens in Summerside, Prince County and the entire Province. The Mayor and Council say in the letters that the implications of the decision and the failure to prevent it from occurring have resulted in further downgrades at Prince County Hospital; new barriers to the retention and recruitment of frontline health professionals; and increased morbidity and mortality. They say  reopening a fully functioning ICU at the PCH is vital to ensuring the continued health and safety of residents.
