Summerside is now getting 25 percent of its electricity from a large solar farm called Sunbank which will eventually produce 21 megawatts of energy using 48-thousand solar panels on 30 hectares of land that was not going to be used for development located near a water well field.
Large batteries at the site can store 10 megawatt hours of energy in the city’s biggest green energy project.
About 17-hundred homes will benefit per day in the 69-million dollar project.
