The P.E.I. government says it will implement all 16 recommendations included in a report on coastal development released Tuesday by the UPEI-based Canadian Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation. Steven Myers, the Minister of Environment, Energy and Climate Action commissioned the research earlier this year when he ordered a moratorium on new development in the buffer zone. The 16 recommendations in the report include developing a public beach access policy; developing shoreline management plans for PEI’s 17 regional coastal areas; making coastal hazard disclosure mandatory; and expanding the environmental buffer zone based on changing conditions.
