The group ‘People for Safe Neighbourhoods and Communities’ will be holding a rally outside the Coles Building and the provincial legislature on Richmond Street at 4pm on Tuesday. The group says the rally is against what it calls the negligence and inaction of the King Government in addressing the need to immediately close, not relocate, the Community Outreach Centre in Charlottetown. The group is also calling on Premier Dennis King and Liberal Opposition Leader Hal Perry to respond publicly to the concerns that have been raised by residents. Rally organizers are demanding the immediate closure of the Outreach Center due to the unsafe environment they say it has created for all residents, including children, seniors, and other vulnerable demographics. On Friday the province announced a plan to relocate the Outreach Centre to Park Street.
