A horrific motor vehicle crash in western PEI on Friday evening.
A 3-year-old girl and a 52-year-old man have died as a result of a head on collision in Coleman. A 27-year-old woman and a 6-year-old girl are also in hospital. About 7:00 on Friday night Prince District RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision near the intersection of the Mud Road and MacPhee Road in Coleman.
The O’Leary and West Prince Fire Department along with Island EMS responded. The 52-year-old man was the driver of one of the vehicles and was pronounced dead at the scene. The other vehicle was driven by the 27-year-old woman and she was travelling with two children.
The 3-year-old was also pronounced dead at the scene. The woman and the other child were both transported to Prince County Hospital with serious injuries. The 6-year-old child was later sent to the IWK Children’s Hospital in Halifax. An RCMP collision reconstructionist and the PEI Coroner’s office are providing assistance with the investigation which will continue.
