Jimmy Buffett has died at age 76.
A statement says he passed away last night peacefully surrounded by family, friends, music and dogs.
The cause of death has not been disclosed. Buffett had been hospitalized several times in recent months and had to cancel live appearances.
His biggest hit was “Margaritaville” released in 1977.
He was set to release a new album later this year.
He was known for his charity work and philanthropy.
Buffett recorded PEI musician Lenny Gallant’s song “Mademoiselle (Voulez-Vous Danser) in 2001 in Florida.
