Opposition housing critic Gord McNeilly is urging the King PC Government to make immediate plans to deliver a low barrier shelter in Summerside to support homeless people in the community. McNeilly was reacting to reports this week that occupants of a tent encampment near Three Oaks Senior High School were told they need to leave the area before students return. Summerside Police met with several people from the encampment and gave them 24 hours to move. McNeilly says he’s calling on Minister Rob Lantz to take the necessary steps to provide safe and fully functioning shelters in Summerside.
