A new session of the PEI Legislature gets underway this Friday with the swearing in of members, a speech from the throne, and election of the Speaker. This is the first session since the spring election last month that saw the Progressive Conservatives win a majority Government, with 22 seats. The Liberals now form the Official Opposition having won three seats and the Greens now have Third Party status having won 2 seats. Before assuming their seats on the floor of the legislative assembly, all members must swear, or solemnly affirm, an Oath of Allegiance to “His Majesty King Charles the Third.”
