For the first time in 70 years there has been a coronation to begin the reign of King Charles III and Queen Camilla. A
Charles became King on the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth II who died last September at age 96.
The coronation took place Saturday morning at Westminster Abbey in London in front of 28-hundred invited guests.
There was also been a 21-gun salute at the Charlottetown waterfront and a ceremony to welcome the new King at Government House which was open to the public.
Premier Dennis King says the coronation is both an historic and significant moment in our history. He’s wishing the King health and prosperity and looks forward to a visit to Prince Edward Island. Charles paid a visit to PEI in 1983 and again in 2014 as the Prince of Wales.
