Downtown Charlottetown Inc. and the City of Charlottetown are joining forces to launch a parking forgiveness program during the month of April.
If you receive a parking meter ticket during April you are eligible to have it forgiven providing you have a purchase of $35 or more from a downtown business and get a receipt. More programs like this will run in September and October.
Just take your ticket and purchase receipt to the Charlottetown Police station on Kirkwood Drive within five days of the ticket being issued to have the fine waived. This idea has been tried in other cities successfully like Halifax.
