Green Party Leader Peter Bevan-Baker was in Lennox Island this morning to announce the Green Party’s plan for advancing reconciliation. He says a Green government would:
- Immediately establish a senior-level position in government dedicated to Aboriginal content in education;
- Give Indigenous youth a voice in matters that affect them by lowering the voting age to 16 years in provincial and municipal elections;
- Support Mi’kmaq initiatives in housing, economic development, and other priorities identified by the Mi’kmaq self-government;
- Establish a Mi’kmaq-specific business equity fund;
- Provide a recurring $100k grant to contribute to the Indigenization of UPEI.
