On Wednesday, Island NDP Leader Michelle Neill stressed again that the New Democrats will fight for PEI’s public health services. She says the Conservative, Liberal and Green parties have all revealed some sort of plans to privatize health care if given the chance. The NDP says there is growing evidence that shifting to private health care services is more costly to taxpayers; increases wait times; takes PSW’s, RCW’s, nurses, doctors and others out of the public system and as a result puts staffing pressure on public hospitals. Neill says only New Democrats are committed to keeping PEI’s public health care system public by ensuring that every new dollar from the federal government should go towards the public health care system.
