For just the third time in PEI history an Island team has won a national baseball medal. PEI, coached by by Rob McCormack, won the bronze medal at the Canadian Under 15 boys championship in Oshawa, Ontario, 6-4 over Manitoba. Cody McCormack sparked the attack with 2 singles, 3 RBIs and he scored 3 times. The only other Island national medals came in 1997 when PEI won silver at the National Seniors and bronze in the Bantams in 2015.
PEI lost the bronze medal game in the Under 13’s, 12-7 to Ontario. Cole Echlin had a double and a triple and 3 RBIs.
PEI finished 12th in the Under 16 Girls Invitational in Bedford, Nova Scotia losing 18-6 to Newfoundland-Labrador.
The Chatham Ironmen won the Canadian Senior Men’s Championship edging Nova Scotia, 3-2. Three Islanders on the Ironmen. First baseman Dillon Doucette singled and drove in a run. Pitchers JP Stevenson and Jordan Stevenson also played on the National gold medal winners.

First place Stratford dropped Peakes, 8-3 in the Kings County Baseball League.
The Grant Thornton Tigers picked up a big win as they dropped Cardigan, 8-3 in the battle for 4th place with two games left.

Bo Bichette singled and doubled but the Toronto Blue Jays lost 3-1 in Seattle. Toronto has 80 losses in its rebuilding year.
The New York Yankees set a record with 61 home runs in August as they dropped the Dodgers, 5-1. Aaron Judge drove won out as New York won the series, 2-1.
Manny Machado homered as the San Diego Padres scored all of their runs in the first inning holding off the Boston Red Sox, 3-1.

The Montreal Alouettes pulled out a 28-22 victory over the Toronto Argos in the CFL’s Touchdown Atlantic. Just over 10-thousand fans took in the game in Moncton.
Rory McILroy won the biggest payout in history winning the Tour Championship worth $15-million. He had final round 66.
Jin Young Ko of South Korea won the CP Women’s championship in Aurora, Ontario with a final round 64 and 5 shot victory. Canadian Brooke Henderson finished tied for third with a 69.

Na Naa Said So won the Lady Slipper Stakes for 2 year old pacing fillies in 1.59/1 with Adam Merner driving at Red Shores in Summerside. Woodmere Rollnpop won a division of the Joe O’Brien Memorial for 2 year old colts in 1.58/1 and Clare MacDonald in the bike.
Tobins Rebel also won in 1.58/1.
WHAT’S ON TODAY
The Charlottetown Islanders main camp is underway at the APM Centre in Cornwall with all of the veteran players taking part in their first practice on Sunday.The Islanders rookie camp saw the younger players go 1-3 in preseason games. Charlottetown lost 4-2 to Acadie-Bathurst on Saturday. 13 players were cut on the weekend.
The Summerside Western Capitals will have defenseman Zach Biggar in their line-up to begin the Maritime Junior hockey season. Biggar is a second round draft choice of the Acadie-Bathurst Titan and attended the Team Canada Under 17 training camp this summer. The Portage,PEI native played with Kensington Wild in Major Midget last season.
