Budget day Thursday in PEI

The Provincial government is presenting its spring budget Thursday.  PEI is the last of the four Atlantic provinces to present a budget for fiscal 2025-26.  In its last update for fiscal 2024-25 the province forecasted a large increase in its deficit.  It projected last year’s deficit at 129.5 million dollars – a 44 million dollar increase from the figure tabled in February 2024.  Finance Minister Jill Burridge is expected to deliver the budget address at about 2:30pm.
