The official opening was held Monday for the new Sherwood Elementary School, PEI’s first net zero ready school.
The new school, built next to the former school, offers over 82,000 square feet of space for up to 650 students. It features 31 classrooms, flexible learning spaces, a multipurpose theatre/gymnasium room, two music rooms, and a library.
The net zero ready features of Sherwood Elementary include a 100-kilowatt rooftop solar panel system, a geothermal energy system, triple-pane windows, as well as electric vehicle charging stations.
