The PEI rep Eastern Stars won the Female Major U18 Atlantic Hockey Championship on Sunday with a 3-1 win over Nova Scotia’s Northern Selects in Pictou County. The Stars were dominant, having gone undefeated in the round robin portion of the Championships.
The host Kensington Wild had a strong weekend, but lost 5-3 to the Moncton Flyers in the final of the Major U18 AAA Atlantics.
The Toronto Blue Jays and slugger Vladimir Guerrero Junior have agreed on a 14-year contract extension, worth a reported 500-million dollars.
The PEI Standardbred Horse Owners Association Awards were handed out Saturday night in Charlottetown. Highlights included Earl Watts winning Horseman of the Year; Bobbi-Jo Matheson being named Ocean 100/Hot 105.5 Horsewoman of the Year; and Jamie Whelan winning Owner of the Year. It was also announced that the Industry Builders Awards are being renamed the Kent Oakes Industry Builder Awards, in honour of Kent Oakes, a leader in PEI’s harness racing industry who passed away last June.
Team Ontario Black edged out Team Ontario Red 36–31 in the final of the 2025 Junior East Wheelchair Basketball Championship on Sunday at UPEI.
