Alex Ovechkin has tied Wayne Gretzky’s N-H-L goals record by scoring the 893rd and 894th of his career in Washington’s 5-3 win against the Chicago Blackhawks Friday night. Noah Dobson had a goal and an assist in leading the New York Islanders over the Minnesota Wild 3-1.
Canada’s Brad Jacobs wrapped up round-robin play with two wins Friday at the men’s world curling championships in Saskatchewan. . Jacobs and his rink, which includes Islander Brett Gallant, clinched the top seed and a direct bye to today’s semifinal.
