With the calendar change to April 1st, the consumer carbon tax has been removed from fuel prices on PEI as new Prime Minister Mark Carney signed an order last month eliminating the consumer carbon tax. The tax had added 17.6 cents per litre to the price of gasoline and 21.4 cents to diesel. However, when the HST is factored in, the savings at the pump as of today are about 20 cents per litre for gas and 24 cents per litre for diesel. As of today, the minimum pump price for regular self-serve gasoline is 149.6 cents per litre; 158.7 cents per litre for premium gasoline; and 165.9 cents per litre for diesel.
