A search Monday involving PEI RCMP and multiple emergency response personnel, resulted in a missing woman near Brackley Beach being located – but she later died in hospital. At about 3:45 p.m., the RCMP responded to a call of a missing person whose vehicle was located in the PEI National Park at Brackley Beach. RCMP immediately began a search of the area and were supported by Parks Canada staff and boats, RCMP Police Dog Services, RCMP drone operator, PEI Ground Search and Rescue, the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre & Canadian Coast Guard helicopter, Island EMS and the North Shore, New Glasgow and New London Fire Departments. Just before 8:00 p.m., the 51-year-old Harrington woman was found in the water by the Coast Guard helicopter crew and she was brought to shore by New London Fire department’s boat. The woman was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
