The UPEI Men’s Basketball Panthers will play for a bronze medal at the U-Sports Nationals after losing 87-54 to Calgary in their semifinal last night. The Panthers will play Ottawa Sunday in the bronze medal game.
The Charlottetown Islanders suffered a road loss Friday night, losing 5-4 in Bathurst in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League.

A big day for PEI on Friday at the Special Olympics World Winter Games in Turin, Italy. PEI’s Ellen MacNearney won her second gold medal of the Games — this time in the 5km Cross Country Ski event. PEI’s Callum McEwen won a bronze medal in Level 6 Singles in figure skating.
