With the warming temperatures this week, the Charlottetown Fire Department is warning of unstable ice conditions, and stresses that no ice is currently safe to be on. It says fluctuating temperatures can make ice on local waterways unstable. Slippery banks and fast-moving cold water can also be hazardous. Residents are asked to take safety precautions for themselves, their families, and pets by avoiding any recreational activities on ice surfaces including harbours, rivers, streams, creeks and ponds.
