Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Canada’s premiers have agreed to reduce barriers to internal trade after the U-S hit the country with economically devastating tariffs.
U-S President Donald Trump imposed 25 per cent tariffs on Canadian goods and a lower 10 per cent levy on Canadian energy this week and then announced that the auto sector will get a one-month exemption from the duties.
Canada imposed 25 per cent retaliatory tariffs on 30-billion-dollars worth of American products and Trudeau reportedly won’t lift any levies if Trump leaves any tariffs on Canada.
The White House says Trump is open to other carveouts.
