Green MLA calls for independent audit of Maritime Electric’s billing and rate-setting process

With many Islanders voicing concerns about the size of their electricity bills, Green MLA Matt MacFarlane wants an independent audit of Maritime Electric’s billing and rate-setting process.   MacFarlane says some Islanders are seeing increases in the range of hundreds of dollars a month with their electricity bills. He says many Island customers are experiencing unexpected hikes, well above approved rate increases, leading to concerns about transparency and fairness in rate calculations.
