The Dome at Credit Union Place has been damaged. The City of Summerside says the Dome is one of the municipal facilities it’s been operating using backup generation due to requests from Maritime Electric to curtail energy consumption during peak load periods while awaiting the repair of the transformer at the Sherbrooke substation. The City says operating on backup generation resulted in the Dome’s inflation system experiencing a connection disruption which led to damage to the Dome. The City says it is actively working with specialized technicians from out of province who are headed here to assess and resolve the situation as quickly as possible.
