Due to the ongoing power reliability situation at the Maritime Electric Sherbrooke Substation, the City of Summerside says it remains in constant contact with Maritime Electric regarding system stability. The City is advising residents that rotational power outages may be necessary Wednesday evening if power demands exceed the grid’s capacity. It says that if that happens, it will need to shed loads by dropping various circuits on a rotational basis. Beginning at approximately 4:00 PM until around 10:00 PM Wednesday, customers may experience a loss of power for periods of up to 2 hours as part of that process, if required. In order to help conserve power, all non-essential municipal facilities are closed for the evening.
