The City of Summerside says planned rotating power outages it had previously announced for Tuesday night have been cancelled. The City had announced at about 3:30pm that due to the ongoing damage to the Maritime Electric Sherbrooke Substation, it would be turning off circuits across the city on a rotational basis to help manage power loads. However, at 5:30pm the City of Summerside advised that it had received an update from Maritime Electric guaranteeing the City enough power for Tuesday evening — meaning the rotating power outages would not be necessary Tuesday night.
The City of Summerside says it remains a very fluid situation and it’s actively working with Maritime Electric for real-time updates. Islanders are being encouraged by Maritime Electric and Summerside Electric to remain prepared and continue to conserve energy when possible.
