PEI RCMP have released impaired driving statistics for 2024, and they show that the Mounties made 230 impaired driving arrests on Island roads last year. More than 60 percent of those arrests, 140 of them, involved drivers impaired by alcohol. 90 of the cases, almost 40 percent, involved drug impairment. More than half of the impaired driving investigations resulted from RCMP traffic enforcement and check points, while 35 percent were the result of public tips, and 13 percent stemmed from collisions.
