P-E-I’s Federation of Agriculture says the Island is quickly losing valuable agricultural land to residential development.
The federation says the Island lost more than 12 per cent of its farmland between 2016 and 2021.
At this rate, the province could lose half of its farmland by 2050 if the government doesn’t act.
The federation is calling on the government to impose a moratorium on residential development in areas without a land-use plan.
