America is mourning the loss of Jimmy Carter, the longest-lived U-S president in American history, who died at his Georgia home on Sunday at the age of 100.
As reactions poured in from around the world, President Joe Biden said the world lost an “extraordinary leader, statesman and humanitarian” — and he added that he lost a dear friend.
Biden cited Carter’s work to eradicate disease, forge peace, advance civil and human rights, promote free and fair elections and house the homeless as an example for others.
A state funeral for Carter has been scheduled for January 9th in Washington.
