In the Quebec Maritime Junior Hockey League, the Charlottetown Islanders beat the Sea Dogs in Saint John 6-2. The two teams will battle again tonight (Saturday) in Saint John.
In the opening game of “Atlantic Slam W” at Eastlink Centre on Friday night, the Cincinnati Bearcats beat the Georgetown Hoyas 59-57. At 6:00pm tonight, the Georgetown Hoyas will faced the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles.
The UPEI Women’s Basketball Panthers beat Cape Breton 74-61, while the Men’s Panthers lost 70-68 to the Capers. The Basketball Panthers are at St. FX tonight.
The UPEI Men’s Hockey Panthers play in Moncton tonight, while the Women’s Panthers visit St. Thomas.
The Summerside Western Capitals host the Pictou County Weeks Crushers at 7:00pm tonight at Credit Union Place.
Due to heavy rain and high winds, which could cause power outages, Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park and the PEI Harness Racing Industry Association will move the Saturday race card (November 23rd) to Sunday November 24th with a 12:30PM post time. The card features the annual Horseperson’s Day, and the Paul MacDonald Memorial Driving Championship presented by the PEI Standardbred Horse Owners Association. The Sunday program has been delayed with a further announcement coming soon on the rescheduled date and time.
There are 15 games in the N-H-L today with six Canadian teams playing. The Flames host the Minnesota Wild, the Vegas Golden Knights are in Montreal playing the Canadiens, the Senators take on the Canucks in Ottawa, Winnipeg plays the Predators in Nashville, and the Rangers continue their western Canada road trip with a stop in Edmonton.

The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks play the Laval Rouge et Or today in the Vanier Cup. The undefeated Golden Hawks should be put to the test today against the Quebec powerhouse, who are seeking their second Vanier Cup in the last three years. The game kicks off at 1 p-m ET at Queen’s University stadium in Kingston, Ontario.

The Philadelphia 76ers say center Joel Embiid is managing swelling in his left knee and will miss a second consecutive game Sunday. The Sixers say the decision to sideline Embiid was made along with the team’s medical staff. Embiid was ruled out prior to Friday’s game against the Nets due to what the team described as left knee injury maintenance. The Sixers host the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday.

Former Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Austin Hays is one of 62 players who didn’t receive a contract offer from their M-L-B team by Friday, making them the latest free agents. Others on the market include former Blue Jays closer Jordan Romano and outfielder Ramon Laureano, who spent last season with the Atlanta Braves.

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy will miss Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers with a sore throwing shoulder. Purdy injured his right shoulder in last Sunday’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Purdy underwent an MRI that showed no structural damage but the shoulder didn’t improve during the week and Purdy was ruled out for the game. Coach Kyle Shanahan said star defensive end Nick Bosa also will miss the game with injuries to his left hip and oblique.
