A Charlottetown Police officer jumped into the harbour Friday nightto rescue a woman who had fallen into the water. It was about 9:45pm Friday when Charlottetown Police responded to a 9-1-1 call and arrived to find that a woman had accidentally fallen off the dock at the end of Queen Street near the 2024 sign while she was with some friends. Charlottetown Fire Department and Island EMS were also dispatched to the scene. The woman was located in the water on the Peakes side of the Delta Prince Edward Hotel, conscious and holding on to a pillar. She was in distress yelling that she could not hang on much longer, so an officer jumped in the water and was able to get a life ring around her and swim her back to the lower level docks were other Officers and Fire Fighters helped pull her and the Officer out of the water. The woman was treated by Island EMS, and although she was quite shaken and cold from the incident, she did not suffer any injuries.
