The Charlottetown Islanders lost 6-2 at home to the Saint John Sea Dogs on Friday night in Quebec Major Junior action.
In preseason action, the UPEI Men’s Hockey Panthers beat Acadia 7-1 in Rustico. The Women’s Hockey Panthers lost 3-1 to St. Mary’s in Pownal. The Women’s Hockey Panthers are back at it tonight, facing Moncton at Eastlink Centre in another preseason game.
The Summerside Western Capitals host the West Kent Steamers tonight at 7:00pm at Credit Union Place.
UPEI is hosting the Mickey Place Basketball Tournament this weekend. On the Men’s side, UPEI beat Guelph 91-84, and UNB downed Laval 85-72. In women’s play, UPEI lost 59-54 to Laval, and Acadia dumped Carleton 73-66. The Tournament continues today.
In the majors, the Jays were pounded 15-5 by Miami; the Red Sox lost 2-1 to the Rays; and Pittsburgh doubled the Yankees 4-2.
