The provincial government has announced the details of it’s previously announced At Home Caregiver Benefit — a benefit that it says is meant to help Islanders with a high likelihood of being admitted to long-term care, stay in their home while receiving care from a primary caregiver.
The Benefit offers financial assistance to a primary caregiver who is providing a significant amount of unpaid, ongoing help to a person requiring care.
The monthly benefit is between $250- $1,500 depending on the care recipient’s household income. It is paid to the person receiving care who will then make the payment to their primary caregiver. You can now call 1-800-371-8245 for more information and be connected with a local home care office for an assessment.
