Through funding from the province, new resources are now available to help Islanders learn more about the risks of coastal and inland flooding — risks that are on the rise due to climate change.
An online Climate Hazard and Risk Information System has been developed by the Province and UPEI. It offers information about different climate hazards in PEI with a Coastal Property Guide on building or buying coastal property with information about coastal erosion and coastal flooding.
There’s also a PEI Flood Guide that provides guidance for communities for creating flood policy and reviewing development applications. It can also help people plan for, and prevent, impacts to their own property.
