A combined investment of more than $21.4 million from the federal and Provincial governments will go towards road improvements on the island. Funding for four projects was announced by MPs Lawrence MacAulay and Heath MacDonald, provincial Minister Ernie Hudson, and Abegweit First Nation Chief Junior Gould. The projects in Kings County, Queens County and Prince County include upgrades to approximately 149 kilometres of roads. The Abegweit First Nation project on Route 2 will mean a reduced speed limit, making it safer for pedestrians and cyclists within the community.
