School bus drivers on P-E-I say the Island’s relatively new fleet of electric buses are plagued with problems. The union that represents drivers says that of the 100 electric buses in use, 16 to 18 of them are usually in the shop on any given day. The union says the biggest problems with the three-year-old vehicles are their often faulty heating systems and the software used for charging. Public school officials say the province is working with the manufacturer, Lion Electric, to fix those problems — adding that there are always challenges with new technology.
