Federal Fisheries Minister Diane Lebouthillier has held a meeting with her counterparts in the Atlantic provinces.
A news release says the group talked about the effects of climate change on marine ecosystems and economies in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and P-E-I.
The ministers also discussed the extension of the Atlantic Fisheries Fund through 2026.
Lebouthillier also noted the increased leverage of smaller fleets in the redfish fishery, reducing the share of the offshore fleets from 74 per cent in 1994 to 59 per cent in 2024.
