The Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce says it’s pleased with word of the agreement between Ottawa and the City of Charlottetown to fast-track 300 new housing units over the next three years. Chamber CEO Bianca MacGregor says Charlottetown’s vacancy rate fell to 0.5% in 2023 and the city is in desperate need of more housing. She says the current lack of housing inventory has been identified as a significant barrier to Chamber members looking to recruit and retain employees and grow their businesses.
