Tyler Smith and his Crapaud Curling Club men’s team beat clubmate Jamie Newson 8-3 Saturday night to claim his third consecutive P.E.I. Tankard men’s curling championship. The Provincial Scotties Women’s Championship is being decided Sunday between Cornwall’s Amanda Power and Jane DiCarlo of the Crapaud Curling Club
The UPEI Men’s Hockey Panthers clinched a playoff spot despite losing 3-2 in a shootout to Dalhousie. The Panthers picked up a point as Noah Sedore tied the game late in the third.
Sherbrooke got by the Charlottetown Islanders, 2-1 in overtime in the QMJHL.
First place Summerside dropped Yarmouth 7-3 in the Maritime Junior Hockey League.
In Major U18 play, the first place Moncton Flyers trimmed the Kensington Wild 4-3 in overtime.
Saint Mary’s beat UPEI 81-73 in men’s basketball. The Huskies won the women’s game, 84-56.
Holland College won 99-88 against UNB Saint John in Men’s Basketball, and 98-64 in the women’s game
Rollwithhottytoddy made it four straight wins at Red Shores. The mile in 1.58/4 with Myles Heffernan Sr. behind. Brady Sweet had three winners on the card.
