PEI RCMP stopped two impaired drivers in just over two hours on Wednesday afternoon. First, at about 3:00 p.m., an officer stopped a vehicle in Hunter River for speeding and the driver failed a roadside screening device for cannabis. Then, at about 4:20pm, East Prince RCMP responded to a collision between a dump truck and a car in Wellington. No one was injured but the driver of the car was given a breath demand to screen for alcohol. The driver refused to provide a sample, but a charge of failing to provide a breath sample carries a similar penalty as impaired driving. Both drivers are facing court dates to answer to impaired driving related charges.
