The St. FX X-Men scored three times in the final period to drop the UPEI men’s hockey Panthers, 5-3. Jacob Hudson scored four times for X. Ben MacFarlane, Elias Cohen and Daylon Groulx replied for UPEI. The Panthers were outshot, 31-16.
The women’s Panthers were 4-1 winners at Dalhousie. Lexie Murphy scored the winner. Stephanie Leger, Ashley McCutcheon and Sophie Bujold also scored for UPEI.
Hot Halifax went to a shootout to edge the Charlottetown Islanders, 4-3 in the Q. The Mooseheads picked up their 14th win in 22 games.
The Summerside Western Capitals won their 9th in a row in the MHL getting by Truro, 7-6 in overtime on a goal by Blake Eastman. Robbie Rutledge scored three times. The first place Caps have only one regulation time loss this season in 17 games.
Rothesay Netherwood got by the Charlottetown Knights, 3-2 in the Monctonian Major U18 division. The Knights are 1-1.
The Kensington Wild is 1-0-1 blanking the Western Kings, 8-0. Cam McCardle picked up the shutout. Ayden MacKay and Liam Arsenault had two goals each.
Toronto edged Detroit, 3-2 in Sweden in the NHL Global Series William Nylander got his points streak up to 16 games with a goal and two assists. John Tavares also had a goal and two helpers.
Winnipeg edged Buffalo, 3-2.
Florida over Anaheim, 2-1.
The UPEI women’s basketball Panthers won 64-62 over Saint Mary’s outscoring the Huskies, 21-5 in the final quarter. Lauren Rainford led with 16 points. Aiden Rainford had 9 points and 11 rebounds.
The men’s Panthers lost 79-75 to the Huskies. Jac Colley had 22 points and 9 rebounds for UPEI.
Boston over Toronto, 108-105 in the NBA in season tournament. Derrick White scored a three-pointer with 27 seconds left to put the Celtics ahead. Pascal Siakam and Dennis Schroder had 23 points each for the Raptors.
On Today: Harness racing at Red Shores in Charlottetown with post time at 12.30. The Paul MacDonald Memorial Driver’s Championship will be held in eight races. The featured 13th has Chelksi as the favourite in the fillies and mares race with Corey MacPherson driving.
