The Provincial Government is working with UPEI’s Canadian Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation and Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering to make Georgetown PEI’s first net zero community. The first step is to understand how Georgetown uses energy for homes and buildings, and then perform comprehensive simulations to assess energy consumption and emissions. Georgetown residents may be asked to take part in surveys to support the research, and there may see some drones flying in the area as researchers collect data about the buildings in the town.
