Post-tropical Storm Lee officially arrived in the Maritimes when its storm Centre made landfall at about 5:00pm Saturday on Nova Scotia’s Long Island, which is in Digby County along the province’s western coast. Nova Scotia’s coastal communities have seen substantial storm surges with Lee’s arrival.
Power outages are reported across the Maritimes as Lee’s strong winds bring down trees or branches onto power lines. By early Saturday evening, Nova Scotia Power was reporting 146-thousand customers were without power. More than 25-thousand customers in New Brunswick were without power. In PEI, Maritime Electric has been reporting power outage numbers fluctuating between 1,100 and 4,600 customers.
