The Canadian Hurricane Centre says tropical storm Franklin is likely to pass well south of Nova Scotia on Wednesday.
Franklin could pass close to southeastern Newfoundland late Wednesday or Thursday.
The storm could bring rain, strong winds and high seas to southern parts of Atlantic Canada.
PEI can expect some heavy rain starting near dawn on Wednesday in Thursday afternoon.
