Heavy rains coming for PEI

A Special Weather Statement has been issued for all of Prince Edward Island as heavy rainfall is possible on Saturday for some areas.  Environment Canada says total rainfall amounts could reach or exceed 50 millimetres in some areas during a period stretching from Friday after midnight until Sunday.  Rainfall amounts could exceed 25 millimetres per hour in some areas.  Heavy downpours can cause flash flooding and pooling of water. Similar events have caused hazardous driving conditions and localized flooding in low-lying areas.
