Premier Dennis King called news of Ottawa purchasing a replacement ferry a welcome announcement that will provide stability and consistency for the important transportation link between PEI and Nova Scotia for 2024 and beyond. King thanked Cardigan MP Lawrence MacAulay for his advocacy and efforts to ensure a replacement ferry was permanently secured after the fire last summer on the MV Holiday Island. The Premier says the replacement ferry will provide Islanders and tourists reassurance that there will be a reliable and consistent service between Wood Islands and Caribou going forward. King does say that while Wednesday’s announcement will help stabilize the service, his government will continue to work with the federal government to ensure a new ferry is still a priority.
