The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says it has completed its investigation of two detections of potato wart in P-E-I in 2021.
Officials say nearly 50-thousand soil samples were analyzed and potato wart was identified in four additional fields, an expected development in an investigation of this scale.
The agency says land controls were put in place on individual fields to restrict the movement of potatoes, plants and soil that could spread potato wart.
It says field surveillance will continue through this fall, although the risk of transmission of potato wart remains negligible when appropriate risk mitigation measures are in place and followed.
